Celebrate India’s 66th Independence Day; Witness Tibet’s Declaration of Independence

The year 2013 will mark exactly 100 years since Tibet proclaimed the restoration of its Independence in 1913. The text of the Proclamation has survived, though the original document has not.

Students for a Free Tibet plans to unveil a re-creation of the historic scroll in anticipation of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the proclamation. Launched in Dharamsala on May 23rd 2012, SFT aims to reach more than 100 cities across the globe; unveiling the Independence scroll and reading the Proclamation.

Here in Delhi, with the Coordination of RTYC Samyeling & RTYC Rohini, Students for a Free Tibet – Delhi will be celebrating AUGUST 15th, India’s 66th Independence Day as the Declaration of Independence of Tibet.

We will also be holding a Candle Light Vigil in memory of the Tibetan martyrs who have self-immolated for the Freedom of Tibet.

Do Join us WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15th to witness this historic moment.

National wide Candle Light Vigil wil be organised by our Indian Members and supporters in all the Indian major cities that day. Tibet Needs You Now! Students for a Free Tibet, India (SFT India) is the India National Network of Students for a Free Tibet International, which has over 650 chapters in more than 35 countries. We are a Non-Profit Organization funded entirely by our members and supporters. Founded in the year 2000 from a very humble beginning as a loose network of few young activists and students based in Dharamshala campaigning for Tibet’s Independence, SFT India has grown as nation-wide network of youth, campaigning for the Fundamental Rights of the Tibetan people, and we are still growing. It is from our grassroots network that we gain our strength. To ensure the effectiveness of our grassroots network, we create awareness and sensitize the world on the just cause of Tibet. We believe that young people can and must take responsibility to change our world for the better.
